Det är också dessa små filer som gör att till exempel Facebook kan hålla koll på vad du klickar på och vart du surfar, så att de kan anpassa reklam så den “passar dig” bättre.
Cookies är himla praktiska och har en hel bunt användningsområden, men kan också användas av sajter på ett sätt som inte alls respekterar ditt privatliv. Dessutom kan även “snälla” cookisar användas av folk som lånar din dator för att kolla upp vad du egentligen surfar runt på för sidor – något som vissa kanske inte ser något problem med, medan andra inte alls vill ha sina surfvanor kartlagda.
På grund av riskerna med cookies så innehåller alla webläsare (som jag känner till åtminstone) rätt enkla inställningsmöjligheter, i stil med “acceptera cookies”, “acceptera inte cookies”, “acceptera cookies men ta bort dem när jag stänger webläsaren”. Dessutom kan du radera specifika cookies bäst du vill – antingen genom att radera textfilerna direkt eller i något av inställningsfönstren i din webläsare (återigen, i alla webläsare jag använder åtminstone).

Jag är inte chockad över att de existerar, men tanken har liksom aldrig slagit mig förr. Och om den hade slagit mig så hade jag antagligen antagit att flashcookies hanterades som vanliga cookies: att flash utnyttjade webläsarens inbyggda funktionalitet och att man därför kunde känna sig trygg om man hade restriktivare inställningar för accepterandet av cookies, eller när man valt att gå igenom och radera de man inte gillade.
Så är det inte, insåg jag precis.

I knew it was just a matter of time before Olbermann blew up and left MSNBC. His ego had gotten way too big and finally it looks like management got tired of dealing with it. I hope Comcast steps in and restores some balance to MSNBC politically. Every show on there is hyper-ventilating Republican and Tea Party bashing all day long. It’s actually refreshing to watch CNN sometimes because they actually cover the news. There is so much more that goes on in the world besides the latest Sarah Palin statement and the left wing getting in a tizzy over it. But, that is what passes for “news” on MSNBC. It’s anti-Sarah Palin all day long, so much so I just get sick of it and turn it off or go to Fox or CNN or C-Span if something is going on. I look for Chris Matthews to be next. His show doesn’t even break the Top 20 in Cable TV ratings. He is simply unwatchable due to his hectoring the guests and constantly interrupting him. I don’t see why people go on his show – they never get to talk. Olbermann was entertaining at times yet he took himself way too seriously and I’m glad to see someone burst his little bubble he created for himself and got away with for several years there on MSNBC – The Home of Sarah Palin Bashing 24/7 (except when Lockup reruns are on).
